What To Expect When Getting Your Eyebrows Waxed

Waxing-Eyebrows

Eyebrows can make or break a look. People take their eyebrows very seriously. The shape, arch, and thickness of your eyebrows makes a big impression. It says a lot about you. You want to come away from your eyebrow waxing appointment in Tucson with the beautiful, perfect brows you’ve always dreamed of. Achieving the perfect look requires coordination between you and your aesthetician and a little preparation on both parts.

You’ll Talk About Your Perfect Brows

People are really particular about the way they want their eyebrows to look. Your aesthetician’s idea of what would be a stunning brow for you might be different from what you have in mind, and you may not immediately see eye to eye. Ultimately, the aesthetician is there to make you happy.

If you’re not sure, what would look best, just ask. Your aesthetician will explain what he or she believes would look beautiful on you, and if you agree, you can proceed. You might find that you want to slightly modify your original idea based on the expert input you receive.

If you have the perfect shape already figured out, simply show your aesthetician a picture of the brows you’re looking to duplicate. Your aesthetician will match your shape to the shape in the photos.

The Waxing Prep Work Begins

Your aesthetician will put gloves on, secure your hair out of the way, and begin to prep your brows. If your brow hairs are long, they may require a little bit of a brushing and trimming before they can be waxed. Trimming hairs a little shorter and neatening them up prevents wax from sticking to the ends of loose hairs that may stray away during the process.

Your brow area will be cleansed to leave the surface of the skin free from germs or debris, and the brows will be prepped. Depending on the kind of wax being used, pre-waxing oil treatment may be applied. Sometimes, power is applied to the area to protect the skin and reduce friction.

Waxing Your Eyebrows

The aesthetician will use a small spatula to precisely apply warm wax to the swaths of hair that will be removed during the waxing process. A cloth strip is applied on top of the warm wax, and the wax hardens. If hard wax is being used, the wax will become its own strip. It hardens enough to pull, just like the strip would. When the wax has solidified and encapsulated all of the hairs, it’s pulled off and a smooth surface is left behind.

After The Waxing

It’s normal for wax to leave a little bit of residue on the skin. Your aesthetician will use a special cleansing oil to remove anything the wax has left behind on the surface of your skin. The oil also nourishes the skin and helps to reduce some of the normal redness that may appear.

Your aesthetician will then look for tiny little hairs that may have been left behind. This is common. Very short hairs sometimes aren’t caught by the wax. Sometimes, they grow in places too close to the desired perimeter of the brow for wax to be slathered on them – your aesthetician doesn’t want to risk inadvertently removing too much of your eyebrow. These hairs are removed with tweezers.

Checking Out Your New Brow

After you’ve been prepped, waxed, and cleaned, your aesthetician will have you look at your brows. If you think they’re too thin, you might have to adjust. You can use an eyebrow pencil or an eyebrow pomade to add fullness while you’re waiting for your brows to grow back.

If they’re too thick, your aesthetician can prep you again and wax off a little more.

It’s always better to start with the minimal amount of hair removal. Your brow technician would rather apply wax twice to give you a perfect result than send you home with something you’re not very fond of. Waiting for your brows to grow out can take time and involve a lot of makeup maintenance in the interim. When you’re not sure what you want, go a little thicker and remove more if you feel it’s necessary.

Maintaining Your Eyebrows

Booking regular appointments every four weeks will help you maintain the perfect brow shape. Each appointment may be a little easier than the appointment before it. Since waxing damages hair follicles, some of your undesired hair may eventually stop coming back.
