Manicures/ Pedicures FAQ’s

Q: Can I get a pedicure if I only brought closed toe shoes with me to my appointment?

We recommend you wear comfortable opened toe shoes to put on after your pedicure. Also, we have Feelgoodz Flops for purchase for your convenience.

Q: What type of nail polish/ lacquer do you use?

We use SpaRitual, Dazzle Dry and ORLY Gel at Greentoes.

Q: Is there a difference between the different manicures and pedicures?

Absolutely, all the manis and pedis are wonderful services. Each level of service consist of different time and focus for your individual needs.

Q. Do I have to make an appointment before coming over to the nail salon?

Making a manicure or pedicure appointment is highly recommended. This will allow us the time and latitude to prepare for anything that you may have requested from the foot treatment to caring for your hands. A nail appointment also means you can plan your day with care, and then come in right when you had planned. This will save you the boredom of having to wait in the studio as our walk-in customers do, and the convenience of a nail appointment at your best time.

Q. Something has come up and it will mean I have to skip the nail appointment. Is there anything I could do?

We understand that you have an interesting life outside of the nail salon and as such, it is not possible to stick to the nail appointments you had made. In case you feel that you won’t be able to make it for your appointment, we kindly ask that you inform us at least 24 hours in advance. This will allow us the time to change our schedule, and also set up another time in which you can comfortably come in for your appointment.

Q. Is it safe to get a spa pedicure when I have an ingrown toenail?

Ingrown nails can be a painful condition for your feet to live with. It becomes even more of a problem if you already have sufficiently developed ingrown nails and you choose to get a pedicure, you are putting yourself at the risk of developing a nail or toe infection that can affect both feet.

However, a spa services pedicure is actually a great way of preventing ingrown toenails from plaguing your foot. A nail technician’s service is your best friend in the fight against ingrown toenails and healthy feet. A cuticle on your foot isn’t the only thing they can deal with. They can make a French nails pedicure look great, especially if it’s done by someone with experience.

Waxing FAQ’s

Q: How do I get the best results from my waxing service?

Having the appropriate length of hair (a quarter inch or longer) will give optimal results.

Q: What is the desirable length of hair recommended for waxing?

If you are having a bikini wax or Brazilian, trim hair to ½ inch.

We suggest approximately a quarter inch or longer (2 to 3 weeks of growth).

Q: What is the proper amount of time to wait between my waxing services?

We recommend waiting two to three weeks without shaving, as the hair needs to be at least a quarter inch before we can wax. As you continue waxing, the hair will grow back thinner and finer, and therefore, you may be able to increase your time between waxing to four weeks.

Q: How do I prevent ingrown hairs after waxing?

Ingrown hairs are caused by the hair not growing back straight. It is a common side effect and can be prevented easily by gently exfoliating.

Q: For my bikini wax service, will I be undressed from the waist down?

Best to wear underwear that will give desired shape. During a bare bikini wax service, the esthetician will need to move and adjust the panties for shaping.

Q: What if I am “on my monthly cycle,” should I reschedule?”

In most cases, as long as a tampon is used, you will not need to reschedule. Some women are more tender and sensitive during different times of the month. If your skin is tender or more susceptible to bruising, you may choose a different schedule.

Q: Will I be perfectly smooth after my first wax?

It is possible, however, it is based on your hair thickness and skin condition.

Q: Will it make my hair grow back thicker or darker?

No, as you continue waxing, for most people their hair will grow back thinner and finer.

Q. Is there any difference between a normal bikini wax and a Brazilian bikini wax?

Waxing at a spa can take three different forms. First, the standard bikini wax is a matter of removing all the hair that would be visible if you were to wear a standard bikini. If this is not enough for you, you can request to have an extended standard bikini wax. This type moves more inward and downward in comparison to the standard Bikini wax. A Brazilian wax involves getting rid of all the hairs possible in the bikini area, leaving a hairless area.

Q. Are there situations that will cause the area not to be waxed?

Yes, definitely. The skin is an active organ and not an armored shell for your internal organs.

As such, if you have signs of trauma, or there are varicose veins showing, or you have open and active lesions or various types of dermatitis, the area will not be waxed as the waxing gel can cause damage.

If you have used Retinol at least 36 hours before treatment, or you have used Accutane within the past six months, you will not be eligible for waxing. Also, if the person is currently experiencing a herpes outbreak, they will immediately be denied waxing services to protect the health of our skincare provider. If also you have been sunbathing recently and developed a sunburn, a wax may actually end up making things worse for the person to receive the service. If you utilize various chemical peels over the area to be waxed, you will need to wait at least 7 days before attempting waxing.

Massage FAQ’s

Q: What should I expect for my first massage?

Before your first massage, you will need to complete an intake form. (Our form is one-page, double-sided, and asks simple questions related to medical problems and old injuries.) Your therapist will review the form and conduct a brief interview, asking a few questions about your medical history and any preferences you may have in relation to your treatment.

A full-body therapeutic massage traditionally includes the back and neck, scalp and face, shoulders, arms and hands, upper chest, abdomen, gluteal area, front and back of the legs, and feet. Many clients request extra attention for a focal area (for example, the back or legs) and/or request that an area be skipped.

After the interview, your therapist will leave the treatment room while you disrobe to your desired comfort level and settle in on the massage table, where you will be under a sheet (and a blanket if you wish). During the treatment, you remain fully draped except for the area of the body being treated at a given time (your upper back, for example). You are of course able to continue to communicate with the therapist about ways she can ensure that you are comfortable and that the massage meets your needs, for example in terms of your preferences for pressure.

After the treatment, your therapist will leave the room while you dress. Then you can share additional feedback with the therapist, who will make notes for future reference and may suggest stretches or offer other simple recommendations for self-care.

Q: How do I receive the best massage experience?

The best way to receive a great massage is to communicate with your massage therapist. The more specific you are in telling your therapist what you need, the better experience you will have. Don’t be afraid to say the words “more pressure” or “less pressure”.

Q. Do I have to be completely nude to get massage therapy at a day spa?

The entire essence of massage therapy at a day spa or salon is to have you be as relaxed as possible. You only get to do that when you are comfortable at a massage spa. If you feel quite fine getting a massage while you are completely undressed, then go for it. If you don’t, then you can have your undergarments on during the massage for that comforting feel. As part of the massage at Greentoes, the massage therapist will have you draped shoulder to the foot while the treatments are happening. This is to ensure that you will be comfortable and warm. It is only the area that is being worked on will be exposed.

Facials FAQ’s

Q: How often should I get a facial?

Depends on the skin regimen you and the esthetician discuss as well as your skin type. The average time is about every 3-6 weeks. If you are receiving a series of Peels you could receive a peel every 14 days for the maximum results.

Q: How will I be dressed for the facial?

During your facial you will be draped at all times. We recommend dressing down to your comfort level prior to wearing the facial gown provided. Our facials include a scalp and neck massage as well as a hand and arm and or foot massage, and we would like you to be as comfortable as possible during this 60 minute service.

Q: What products do you use for facials?

Our facials are all used with Eminence Organics Skin Care Line. Eminence uses only the healthiest ingredients, without any harmful chemicals or additives, chosen to give premium results to all skin types. We believe in a holistic approach to skin care and health and feel passionate about sharing our quality products with you. We customize the products used to ensure you receive the best results possible.

Q: Are there facials for Acne?

Absolutely, many people suffer from acne related skin conditions. We use amazing products that are great for treating acne. Consulting with your esthetician is the best way to come up with the right solution for your skin.

Q. What is facial skin care and what can it do for my skin?

The skin is the largest organ of the body. However, how you treat different parts of the skin matters. This is why a facial salon exists. The cream of the services is to treat the skin on your face using particular methods such as hot steaming, exfoliating by using a scrub, extractions, a face mask, peels and others procedures. The purpose of doing full facial services is to draw out toxins and cleanse the skin, to remove dead skin by exfoliation and to help the skin hydrate and glow for a healthy appearance.

Q. My skin is oily. Does that mean my skin will be treated differently than someone who has dry skin at a day spa?

Most definitely. Before the full services begin, you will be asked to fill out an intake form. This form will ask for details such as any medications you may be under, the kind of skin products you use if you have had any procedures done among other things.

This information will help the esthetician discuss with you the outcomes that you would like for your skin, and how to arrive at them. During this discussion, the esthetician will get to determine what your skin type is as well.

With everything at hand, the correct treatment will be administered to get you the outcome that you would like whether by hot packages such as steaming or the experience of the best exfoliation packages.

Sometimes treating your face may mean also treating your body as stress can cause issues with skin.
